Peace Corps on assignment
What will I do as a Peace Corps volunteer, and as an masters research project?

Master's International students enrolled in the Mitigation of Geological and Natural Hazards Program will work on a wide variety of projects while serving as with the Peace Corps.

Normally the student has a Peace Corps assignment in the field somewhere focussing on a general theme such as Agroforestry, Water Quality, Community Development, Ecotourism Environmental Education or Agriculture. The MI work is done by the student's initiative in addition to the Peace Corps assignment. It is a creative project using local resources and contacts and taking advantage of the field location. Every project will be individually tailored to the interest and capabilities of the student, the local site and its resources, and creativity by the student, his advisors and associates in the local country. We have ititially identified countries with natural geological hazards and willingness to work on such projects and established a network of advisors and associates.

You can also look at assignments of other MTU MI students in the programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Forestry.
